Design Engineering Manager

Leading South Wales based capital equipment manufacturer who are currently experiencing rapid growth

£60-65,000+ Dependent on experience+ Benefits

Management of a small team of Engineers on all daily aspects of Product Development and engineering projects from conception to completion.
Develop detailed plans with engineering teams (mechanical/hydraulic & electrical).
Ensuring the product design is complete in terms of addressing all robustness and in-service requirements as well as customer and regulatory authority requirements.
Involved in problem solving activities throughout the manufacturing, qualification and ‘in service’ phases of a project.
Ensuring that design engineering procedures and work instructions are implemented in a consistent and rigorous way.
Involved in Risk Analysis activities, the identification of risk and agreement on the method of mitigation (analysis, test comparison etc.)
Provide design engineering oversight to project planning and execution of design work packages to ensure that all design engineering activities are defined.
Manage procurement/testing of appropriate project components during its life cycle.
Coordinate and lead all activities with Product initialisation, Design for Manufacture, Product Management, and other teams.
Design calculations and ensure all design activities are in line with safety critical regulations.
You will ensure that design engineering procedures and work instructions are implemented in a consistent and rigorous way.
Weekly updates are required for key stakeholders to highlight any risks/mitigation's
Preparing related technical supporting information and writing project reports identifying key technical factors of the project
Be able to provide engineering and technical support prior, during and after project conception.
Manage change control process through established procedural processes.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and business requirements.

Required Skills and Experience

Experience within in a project management role within an engineering/manufacturing environment
You must be able to lead and develop a small team of Design Engineers
Specific Engineering Discipline experience is essential; Mechanical Engineering (Structures Design / Integration / Analysis).
Experience gained in the Aerospace or Automotive industries would be ideal as would experience of safety critical product development.
Good experience of creating and processing project documentation
Recognised project management qualification
Strong planning skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong Leadership experience around dealing with Engineers and Operational requirements.
