A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer to join its successful Team.


The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate strong negotiation skills whilst buildingeffective and productive relationships with stakeholders and suppliers. You should have the ability to manage and prioritise time effectively to achieve set targets. A keen attention to detail and accuracy are required to ensure the availability of goods and services on time and in full. The experience of working withinthe food industryis desirable but not essential as training would be given to the successful applicant.


Purpose of the Job

Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager, the Buyer will be responsible for the sourcing and purchasing of all ingredients and materialsrequired within the manufacturing processof the business, across two sites: Unit 8 and Unit 3-4.


The Buyer will source and purchase the ingredients and materials required,to always ensure the efficientand effective running of the manufacturing areas. Working withinthe Planning and Procurement Team to reviewplanned customer requirements, and sourcing materials required.


Effective communication is essential for the success of the role, you will need to be able to communicate at all levels both with internal and external stakeholders and build strong working relationships.



Main Duties and Responsibilities


- Placing purchase orders for any packaging and ingredients required for production.

· Ensure thatdelivery dates on the systemare accurate and updated where applicable.

· Ensuring all deliveries areallocated to customer orders.

· Liaise withthe Warehouse Operative making sure delivery notes are consistent with raised purchaser orders.

· Expedite Purchase orders to ensurethey are delivered on time.

· Source new suppliers as required.

· Liaising and negotiating withsuppliers regarding pricing and supply, and to conductsupplier performance reviews.

· Regularly review and meet with all suppliers – negotiating costs and service contracts with an aim to reduce costs year on year.

· Continuously reviewmaterial usage and inventory levels, providing reports to the Seniorteam, and forecasts to suppliers to allow forward planning.

· Maintain and develop positive working relationships with current and potential suppliers.

· Source specialitems as required, ensuring the best possible terms,often at very short notice.

· Ensure that all itemsare purchased withinthe set andagreed monthly/ annualbudgets.

· Continually monitor stock levels, ensuring the there is sufficient stockto ensure consistent and efficient manufacture of required products.

· Work in partnership with the Planner and Logistic Coordinator to develop and manage the8 weekly forecasted production plan. Work effectively with the Quality and Technical team to ensure new raw materials and suppliers are correctly reviewed and vetted providing all key information and technical sheets to the department.

· Working with the Quality team to consistently monitor the stock quality and escalating any discrepancies to suppliers and management.


Travel to work from;


Blackwood, Ebbw Vale. Tredegar, Merthyr, Newport, Cwmbran, Caerphilly, Pontypool, Abertillery, Ystrad Mynach.


Hours of Work;

8.00am - 4.30pm Monday – Thursday

8.00am – 3.30pm Friday

28 days holiday per annum
