Finance Assistant £25,000 per year plus benefits

A fantastic opportunity to join a Leading Manufacturing Company based near Caerphilly.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Finance Assistant will be responsible for providing support and

compiling data and subsequent reports to ensure the effective running of the Finance Department allowing for the

development and submission of the monthly management accounts in a timely manner and all other submissions, as

necessary. This will allow the senior management team to assess the performance of the business and set business

KPI’s and targets in line with performance and financial KPI’s.

Working closely with all internal departments, information sharing and ensuring accuracy of data, particularly within

SAGE.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Processing production packs, despatch, raising sales invoices onto SAGE and sending sales invoices daily.

• Inputting purchase invoices to match GRNs, ensuring that any supporting documentation is provided.

• Ensure that all despatches are confirmed with accurate signed delivery notes.

• Managing the GRNI account making sure the report is accurate and up to date and submit to the Management Accountant at month end.

• Manage the finished goods inventory to reduce any write off.

• Manage all the filing in a timely and complete manner.

• Compile data for traceability audits when information is requested by a customer.

• Work with the Management Accountant to complete the annual tax pack and ONS surveys in a timely manner.

• Fill in and maintain the costings/margins sheet and submit to Management Accountant / General Manager at month end.

• Reconciliations to include: Bank / Balance Sheet / Debtors and Creditors and supplier statements against their account in Sage in time for month end procedure.

• Develop and issue all customer statements to customers.

• Reporting on daily production results with an aim to improving productivity and output within manufacturing.

• Processing expenditure requests.

• Generate journal entries as necessary.

• Review and raise supplier payments

• Work with the Management Accountant to process VAT returns

• Update and analyse the accuracy of the fixed asset register with additional assets and monthly depreciation, etc.

• Assist the Management Accountant / General Manager in ad hoc duties and administration duties.

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications Finance Assistant •5 GCSE grades A*-C (or equivalent qualification), Mathematics and English is essential. • AAT Level 3 and Level 4. • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a similar role, within the manufacturing industry. (Ideally within food manufacturing). • Fully proficient user of all Microsoft packages, including but not limited to; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook. • Fully proficient user of SAGE. • Excellent communication skills with stakeholders at all levels both verbal and written. • Proven analytical skills, with the ability to work with accuracy and precision at all times. Identifying problematic areas, with the ability to offer effective resolutions. • Professional appearance and attitude. • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills. • Excellent analytical skills. • Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects/ tasks at one time. • Self-motivator and a team player. With the ability to work on own initiative when required. Competencies • An effective problem solver with the ability to offer solutions where possible. • High level of attention to detail. • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. • Well organised and able to manage own workload, with guidance and mentoring from the Financial Controller. • Ability to work to deadlines. • Use own initiative in order to be highly efficient. • Work well under pressure. • Professional approach to work, team orientated with good organisational and motivational skills. • Knowledge and experience in partaking in traceability audits. • An excellent understanding and appreciation of the necessity for confidentiality, particularly in relation to the ‘sensitive’ data which you may be privy to in your role.
