An excellent opportunity to join a fast Growing South Wales based company.
The Health and Safety Advisor will support in maintaining and delivering H&S compliance across our two production sites whilst engaging with employees and promoting a positive Health and Safety culture in the workplace.
Providing general administrative support, including the co-ordination and delivery of H&S compliance training.
Oversee and maintain the data/ records held on the companies H&S system.
Develop and strengthen existing Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards, control measures and further actions. Devise and implement Safe Systems of Work. Communicate effectively with key stakeholders to develop initiatives to eliminate or reduce hazards.
Support with operational practices to help minimise the risk of workplace accidents and near misses.
Carry out investigations into accident/incidents, and recurrent health cases to provide workplace solutions. Liaise with insurer, health and safety consultant, local authority and HSE when required.
Compiling H&S statistics and writing reports.
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of any changes to HSE legislations that may impact the business, and knowledge share with stakeholders to ensure that they remain up to date with revised practices in accordance with legislative updates.
Work closely with the HR department to collaborate on accident investigations, employee well- being, employees training and inductions and H&S / HR policies and procedures.
Member of the Health and Safety Committee. Deputise for Health and Safety Director when required.
Liaise closely with others departments such as engineering, compliance, purchasing and product development.
Promote and foster a positive attitude to health and safety in the workplace.
Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications Health and Safety Advisor
IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH diploma, or relevant equivalent qualification specialising in the field of H&S in the workplace – essential
Fully proficient user of Microsoft Office particularly in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc
Previous experience in a similar role (essential)
Previous experience in food manufacturing (desirable)
A keen interest in Health and Safety workplace practices, with up to date knowledge of the Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) and regulations.
Experience gained in a Food, Chemical or related industry will be attractive to the company. A minimum of 3 years relevant experience is required.
Travel to work from; Cardiff, Newport, Pontypridd, Caerphilly, Merthyr, Bridgend.
