An exciting opportunity to join a Progressive Engineering business that is part of a Leading UK Engineering and Manufacturing group

The Machine Shop Supervisor will report directly to the Managing Director and the Site Manager and will be responsible for Machine Shop (Staff and Machine Functions)


You will ensure that productivity is working to the highest level & that the company is producing a quality product.

Ensure the production schedule is accurate and sales are aware of lead time in order to quote customers. Ensure job timings / completion dates are recorded accurately and orders are ready for despatch in time with the schedule.

Ensure that staff are trained in operation paying particular attention to the Leadwell VMC and VTL.


Responsibilities/ Duties:

 

·Programme and operate CNC/s to accomplish customer requirements maintaining scheduled order lead times and quality plans.

Train Operators in the use of the Leadwell VLT, VMC and CNCs to ensure that manufacturing efficiency is maximised.

Ensure machine shop employees are aware of their job description and responsibilities.

Advise sales on accurate machine times and machining related costs.

·Have (as a min) weekly production schedule meetings, report actions and record progress with a member of the management team

Provide sales staff with lead times for modification, manufacture on a weekly basis.

Multi-tasking – where a machine is running in excess of 5 minutes ensure that operator is conducting a second machining function.

Ensure customer requirements are met at all times.

Ensure that Machining accuracy / Quality Checks etc, are all carried out and accurately recorded by employees set for analysis.

Devise a maintenance plan for all machine shop equipment ensuring all are in a safe working order for Employees to carry out work instructed.

Identify and conduct risk assessments and ensure these are recorded and safe work practices are adhered to.

Supervise staff to ensure that the job / order they are producing is understood and best machining practises are used.

·Advise MD/ SM of any breaches in health and safety and any issues of concern with staff.

·Conduct this supervisory role with a ‘can do’ positive attitude.

Safety is paramount – if there is any danger that a job cannot be undertaken safely it is your responsibility to stop this from continuing and discuss with MD and SM to see if working practices can be changed to ensure continuation in a safe manner.

That quality management system is adhered to at all times.

All Company procedures and policies are always followed by employees.

Health & safety regulations are adhered to at all times.

 

The above requirements are not an exhaustive list of duties and you would be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role, and the overall business objectives of the organisation.

 

Applicants must have a minimum 5 years’ CNC and specific machine shop supervisory experience.

You must have the right to work in the U.K without sponsorship.
