The mechatronics engineer is responsible for the specification, design, test, and validation of both low and high voltage electrical systems
Main Responsibilities:
New Product Introduction
· Product Development
· Review customer specifications and others to determine requirements and/or feasibility for the product.
· Designing to the requirements of both customer and regulatory standards, including EMC and Environmental.
· Participate in DFMEA and DRBFM processes in relation to electrical components and sub-systems.
· Designing and 2D drafting of electrical harnesses in line with system requirements
· Participate in engineering design reviews as required.
· Interact with vendors and customers on engineering design issues. Communicate with suppliers to understand capabilities and ensure cost-effective solutions.
· Participate in the development of control strategy and control specifications.
Test and Validation support
· Creating, executing test and validating plans for products and components, documenting the results.
· Create validation plans for component validation. Work with customers to develop the system performance to their satisfaction.
· Create gap analysis on customer electrical requirements to identify current non-compliances. Then, create a work verification plan to close the issue.
· Plan and support external test house compliance tests as per customer/legislative requirements.
· Design and build prototype-testing equipment.
Customer support
· With support from the quality team, engage in technical investigations with customers through site visits and identify root causes. Work on corrective actions with suppliers
Specific Qualifications:
· Mechatronics Degree or Mechanical Engineering degree with strong Electrical skills
· Design Engineers with an alternative qualification in Electrical Engineering and some relevant experience can be considered for the position such as electromechanical engineers.
Previous Work Experience:
· Circa 5 years’ experience working within a design/development environment. Desirable but not essential
· Minimum 4 years electrical and mechanical design experience gained in industry.
· Experience of working within an automotive industry.
· Experience in automotive high voltage systems.
Specific Knowledge / Skills Competence:
· Using the Creo 3D Cad package or similar is a distinct advantage but not essential.
· Ability to understand/produce technical drawings.
· Change management processes (PCN ECN etc…)
· Communication skills in all forms including written, oral, email, telephone, and presentations.
· Excellent computer skills and competence in developing and using a PC and associated networks and systems to acquire, manipulate and disseminate information.
· Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of software
You must possess a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel as and when required.
