A fantastic and rare opportunity has arisen for the successful candidate to join a Leading Multinational Manufacturing Company.
Operating within a quality environment with an established ISO9001 Quality Management System, primarily responsible for the Programming & Measurement Inspection activities using 2 CMM bridge machines operating PC-DMIS, and the use of standard inspection equipment.
Managing the workflow of inspection activities for the measurement and qualification and control of incoming materials, serial production, Supplier PPAP assessment and supporting project based requirements of NPI programs.
Duties to include Incoming Inspection Controls, Supplier Quality support, Fit & Function evaluation, NPI, PPAP & APQP processes, Continuous Improvement and Development of measurement requirements with the Design engineering team to achieve GD&T requirements, supporting Manufacturing Engineering with product or process trials.
Main Responsibilities:
- CMM Programming/Inspection, using PC-DMIS measurement system
- Layout inspection, ISIR verification & reporting
- Sample inspection of prototype and pre-series production parts
- Processing of supplier PPAP submissions requiring dimensional verification
- Management and control of gauge calibration requirements
- Liaise with Project teams & Engineering functions to support production & NPI programs
- Product and Process training ( Inspection, RTV, Syspro, CMM, Gauging, Drawing requirements)
- Supporting incoming inspection activities & associated ERP management
- Supporting Quality containment inspection / Outflow inspection
- Design Engineering review - Design for Measurement
- Supporting and leading Continuous Improvement activities when required
- Support Manufacturing activities such as F&F trials or Prototype builds
- Investigate and analyse internal quality concerns in support of the inspection requirements

Previous Work Experience:
Competent use of CMM Bridge machines & measurement software
Experience of working within a Quality department
Working within an automotive supply chain preferred but not essential
Specific Knowledge / Skills Competence:
· Programming & Operating CMM bridge machines
· PC-DMIS measurement software - similar
· Understanding Quality Management Systems - procedures & processes
· Awareness of ISO9000 Quality management requirements
· Experience with APQP and PPAP
· Competent computer user skills – Outlook, Excel & Word
· Managing workflows & priorities
· Generating reports & report writing
· Good Organisational and time management
· Ability to participate and contribute to team based project activities
The Quality Metrology Engineer will be based in South Wales and will travel to work from;
Caerphilly, Merthyr, Ebbw Vale, Pontypridd, Cardiff, Bridgend.
