Quality Assurance Team Leader
Leading Food Manufacturer based in Caerphilly area of South Wales
Reporting directly to the QA Manager, the Quality Assurance Team Leader will hold a key role within the Technical Department. They will be responsible for completing all the daily requirements to maintain the BRC standard. They will complete the detail for the Technical KPI sections and provide the documentation to the QA Manager / Technical Manager. They will also cover the Holiday and sickness requirements of the QA team. This support will assist the QA Manager and Technical Managers to allow them to focus on the detail and further improve the Technical and Operational areas of the business.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
· Completion and maintenance of Technical KPI paperwork, in a timely manner.
· Complete daily Certificates of Analysis for relevant customers.
· Log complaints into the KPI database and create Non-Conformances. Maintain the NC logs for both sites.
· Add the weekly GMP scores to the KPI database and create and issue any NC’s raised to the relevant area.
· Collect and archive daily production samples and maintain the sample log.
· Collect samples and prepare the UPS documentation for analytical testing.
· Manage the Master Action Log and chase up outstanding actions offering support if required.
· Review every document and specification against the Document Register to ensure only current are used.
· Regularly check the expiry dates of all our Suppliers BRC certificates and chase up when needed.
· Support the Technical Department on any Root Cause Analysis that is required.
· Assist the QA team when Non-Conforming issues arise.
· Collecting water samples and environmental swabbing against micro schedules.
· Support the NPD function and be available for each new product run to ensure smooth launch.
· Work on pre-determined projects set by the Technical Department.
· Cover the QA staff at both sites for Holidays and Sickness.
· To operate in a safe working manner and support the business on continuous improvement relating to health and safety and the environment.
· To carry out any other daily quality duties as requested by the QA Manager or relevant manager.
Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
· Fully proficient user of Microsoft Office particularly in Word, Excel, Outlook.
· Good skills in report writing and information presentation.
· Previous experience in a QA / Auditing role.
· Food Safety Level 2 in Manufacturing.
· HACCP Level 2.
· To demonstrate an understanding of internal Technical KPI’s.
· Non-Conformance techniques will be required alongside basic allergen awareness and legal labelling practice.
· Excellent communication skills with stakeholders at all levels both verbal and written.
· Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
· Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects/ tasks at one time.
· Be prepared to be flexible and cover QA staff for holidays which will include shift hours.
· Self-motivator and a team player. With the ability to work on own initiative when required.
· Understanding of BRC, Quality Management Systems and Customer requirements.

These tasks are not intended as an exhaustive list of the post holder’s duties. The post holder is expected to carry out any reasonable request as deemed appropriate by the Manager in order to support business needs.
Hours of Work:
Office hours – 08:00am – 16:30pm Mon – Thurs and 08:00am – 15:30pm Friday
Required to work across 2 sites, and cover QA absence/ holidays when needed.
Holidays: 28 days per annum, inclusive of Bank Holidays.
Travel to work from; Blackwood, Ebbw Vale. Tredegar, Merthyr, Newport, Cwmbran, Caerphilly, Pontypool, Abertillery, Ystrad Mynach.
