A rare opportunity to join a leading South Wales manufacturer that is part of a Global group
In the absence of the Facilities Manager to take responsibility for organising the Manufacturing Engineering team’s general duties and addressing any issues that may arise.
Take the lead in implementation of new production systems and organisation within the production cells – e.g. SITS system.
Responsible with the Facilities Manager for the overall improvement in the current manufacturing cells within the factory.
Attend various meetings involving the manufacturing engineering and planning meetings to review status and provide feedback.
To liaise with Health & safety Department to ensure all processes & materials are suitable for the manufacturing environment
Assist Manufacturing Coordinator in identification of machines & equipment used within process
Liaison with machine manufacturers and installers
Obtaining quotes, selection, justification and ROI calculation.
Assist the Manufacturing Coordinator with design of production lines both flow & Cellular
Project planning, estimating & implementation working with team orientated structure
Implement & deliver project timing plans/ Capital Expenditure activities
Manage and resolve technical issues
Liaising with all departments (i.e production planning & sales)
Design & sub contract tools & fixtures, liaising with tooling manufacturers on design, manufacture & pricing
Assist in driving the organisations lean manufacturing program
Familiarity with lean techniques inc. 5-S, Kanban, Keisen & Poke Yoke
Undertake Process FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis)
Create Manufacturing Process files for new products & update existing files
Files detail information such as process flow charts, process plans, work instructions & process control documentation.
Successfully implement and project manage or work as part of project team on activities such as New Product Introduction, Cost reduction or Process Improvement.
Understand the concept of standard minute values, line balancing & capacity planning.
Create labour standards using work measurement techniques.
Method study – to analyse and suggest best practise
When allocated to work alongside New Product introduction team during product introduction (NPI) analysing times and method before commencing production
Assist the Facilities Manager in eliminating disruption to flow of production when introducing new products
Monitor machine performance/breakdowns & provide engineering & process improvements
Provide support in specification, design and purchasing of new equipment
Provide support in the installation, validation of new equipment & processes
Providing technical support to the production facility developing & improving current manufacturing processes
Demonstrate an ability to take initiative and assume accountability

Flexibility is required in terms of working hours as business demands can often change at the last minute.
The role is generally business hours, however some additional or weekend work may be required to meet the demands of the role.
This position is office based
Supervision; Manufacturing Team in the absence of the Department Manager.
Responsible to; Manufacturing Coordinator
You must have the right to work in the U.K without sponsorship.
Applicants should have a min 3 years’ experience working in a similar role.
Travel to work from; Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, Cwmbran, Abergavenny, Bridgend, Ebbw Vale, Tredegar, Merthyr
